Halifax Real Estate News Compliments of the Andrew Perkins Real Estate Team Issue 1.11 - November 2021   Hard to believe Christmas is less than a month away.  What a wild year it has been.  The Halifax Real Estate market has been one of the hottest markets in Canada.  Prices have increased this year by almost 30%, which is unheard of for our market.  Don't be surprised if we see a pullback next year.  However, if the lack of inventory continues, we may see continued upward pressure on prices.  When writing this, we currently only have 346 active listings for sale (single-family homes, condos, and duplexes). With the holidays around the corner, I don't see this changing, as many people will wait until after the holidays to list their homes.   We are seeing many properties getting 15 to 30 offers on them.  A condo I listed recently in Clayton Park received 18 offers and sold for well above the asking price. I regularly get this question - Should I list my home this time of year?  In previous years I would say, wait until spring when the market picks up.  However, this year is different.  With the extreme lack of inventory, there hasn't been a better time to list your home.  If you are on the fence and would like a market evaluation, do not hesitate to reach out.  Jordan and I would be happy to prepare one for you.   A personal note from myself: My brother was able to get to Halifax for a quick visit.  We had a great party for him: my step-sister, Mary Kay, and some great friends showed up, and we had sushi from Wasabi House.  One of the best sushi restaurants in Halifax.   On a personal note from Jordan: My mom was able to come from Saint John, New Brunswick for a Christmas Shopping visit this month. We had a great time watching the Halifax Mooseheads play at the Scotia Bank Centre, and Dartmouth Dance Academy perform their Christmas Dance Recital! I also got to decorate my apartment for Christmas with the help of my cat pepper!
